SODA Is Involved On A Grass Roots Level

SODA started as a community grass roots effort, and we maintain our local community involvement through a number of programs:

  • Community Events such as forums, community booths, face painting, information dissemination.
  • SODA's Red Ribbon Week in October features Take a Stand. A community wide celebration designed to raise awareness about underage use.
  • Community Norms work to establish a norm of no tolerance for underage use. Education Programs include a resource library with print and video materials available to the community.
  • Conference and Training consists of educational opportunities for our local and state communities.
  • Our Tobacco and Gambling Initiative includes reward and reminder visits to Jackson County merchants. Rewarding merchants who uphold laws regarding underage sales and reminding those who don't know about the consequences.
  • Media Campaign.
