Prevention Works

SODA firmly believes that prevention works in combating the abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. By having a healthy and happy vision for your child, by involving your child in moving towards your vision, and by stating clear consequences, your child will have strong reasons to avoid drugs and other self-destructive behavior.

About Us

A Grass Roots Organization

SODA began as a grass roots organization in 1981 founded by 60 women, most of them parents. Their engagement in a community awareness campaign was to alert the Rogue Valley residence to the destructive effects of alcohol and other drug use by the community youth.

Today, Southern Oregon Drug Awareness is a community based nonprofit organization, and has grown to become a vital community network with representatives from many areas of the community, governed by a diverse Board of Directors. SODA works on universal strategies to address the entire population with messages and programs aimed at preventing or delaying the use and abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

Today, SODA is recognized as one of the oldest and most dynamic grassroots organizations in the United States.

Our mission

Southern Oregon Drug Awareness empowers the community to prevent the underage use and the adult misuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs
